Lauren suggested early on that we might have trouble rolling the birds up. I ignored her.

We were really happy with how they came out. It took several shapes of birds spanning two or three strings, kept straight with precisely drilled aluminum tubes. Sinkers under each wing added tension and kept them from sliding.

The 'remote control'

The idea. A little belt turns the pole and gently pulls up the birds in a graceful, effortless motion.

We tried to untangle this. No sh*t.
